The surgeons and staff of Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians (RMAP) seek to assist in the improvement of the health of individuals who have suffered from the disease of obesity. RMAP desires that all of their patients achieve improved health and an enriched quality of life through significant weight reduction by the method of weight loss surgery, nutritional and behavioral education. 

Front Office Administrative Assistant

Bette is one of our front desk guru's, where she finds the reward of checking in patients and seeing the changes that come through having weight-loss surgery. She enjoys working at RMAP with the skilled physicians and office staff, where she's been doing so since 2001. Bette enjoys spending time with her awesome kids and 8 grandchildren, along with traveling and enjoying the outdoors with her husband. Bette can also be found striking out at the local bowling alley, crocheting, playing games or crafting beautiful cards and other handmade gifts.

Education Director/Dr. Sherman Smith's Medical Assistant

An EMT, student, and outdoor adventurer. She has enjoyed working with the incredible Dr. Smith since 2007. His love for his patients and their health is admirable, and has impacted her interaction with patients. She enjoys teaching patients about their new lifestyle after surgery and receives the greatest reward as she watches them succeed. She believes that the most important things in life are health, love, and happiness. And, she get to see patients everyday regain better health and love for oneself; there is no better gift.

Practice Surgery Scheduler

Cathy is a certified Medical Assistant and everyones favorite Surgery Scheduler. She enjoys her job, and loves being able to schedule patients, and feel their excitment toward a new lifestyle. She also has the task of managing our busy surgeon's schedules, but enjoys being one of the few that get to tell the doctors where to be. When Cathy isn't planning everyone else's time, she's spending her time, skiing, gardening, or reading.

Insurance Specialist/ Patient Advocate

Employed at Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians since Summer of 2011. Yes, one of the newest employees, but don't let that scare you. I have several years of experience working with insurance health plans for authorizations. I am always invloved with insurance education seminars and changes. I am here to help patients with insurance questions and obtain authorizations. Always happy to meet patients and see the difference bariatric surgery has changed their lives, it really is amazing. I am excited to help you with your insurance process.

Born and raised in Southern California. I miss the ocean, but love the Wasatch Mountains here in Utah. I am an outdoors person who loves to hike, boat, snow ski, ride ATV's and travel with my family. I am involved with the Race for the Cure for breast cancer, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Tuberculosis Society and the American Red Cross.

Billing and Collections

Craig has been working as a Collection Specialist with RMAP since 2001. He graduated from University of Utah in Accounting and did a Masster of Business Administration (MBA) at Utah State University. Craig is a single guy that enjoys snow and water skiing, racquetball, tennis, golf, and working out at Gold's Gym. He is the fourth of eight children. Craig likes interacting with insurance companies and patients to help better the practice.

Front Office Administrative Assistant

Heidi joins our front office with 7 years of experience in office support. She graduated from Salt Lake Community College where she studied science and earned her Associated Degree. Most likely Heidi's voice is what you'll hear when you call into our office, or reminding you of your up coming appointment. Aside from taking your phone calls, Heidi loves seeing patients feel good and see them feel an all new level of happiness that the surgery brings them. Heidi enjoys reading, along with spending time with her husband. You'll always get a good book reccomendation or fun hiking trail from Heidi. 

Billing

Roger is our Insurance Billing & Coding Specialist, and has been with our practice since 1992. He graduated from Southern Utah University in Business Administration and Finance. Roger has a deep love for classic cars and drives one of he's muscle cars to work everyday. He is a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, youngest of three, and an avid bowler.

Dr. Rod McKinlay's Medical Assistant

Most of Dr. Goodman’s and Dr. Halversen’s patients know that she’s been here a good many years (we won’t go into which Ice Age she started working here.) But she does hear when they call in, “Roz is that you? You’re still here!” HA! She enjoys hearing from patients in the past and present. Patients thrill her the most when they do well. When they learn to make the “lifestyle” fit into their “lifetime”, then come in and tell us how good they feel, it’s wonderful. A few tidbits about Roz: she is fascinated by photography and loves the outdoors. She thanks you for the memories…

Front Office Administrative Assistant

Kellie enjoys the diversity of working at the front desk. From setting a patient up for their first information class, to seeing how they’re doing after their surgery, she truly enjoys meeting the patients and following them on their journey. “It’s neat when someone checks into our office and I hear their name and say ‘I’ve been talking to you over the phone!’ It’s nice to put a face with the name and people are so happy to be here. I’m glad I get to be a part of that with them from their first steps.” Outside of work, Kellie enjoys running and will be participating in her first marathon this summer. She also enjoys spending time with her family. Her favorite places to be (“besides at my desk at RMAP!”) are California and Texas: Texas first.

Dr. Steven Simper's Medical Assistant

Becky enjoys working with patients and helping them through their weight-loss journey. She has two boys that she loves spending time with, along with her best friend (her dog) Moose :) Becky loves to travel, meeting new people, along with laughing and spending lots of time in the sun! Becky is our movie critic and always knows what movies to go see, just ask!
