I am six months post-op; 80 pounds down with 12 pounds to 125!!! I am incredibly thankful for my friend who pushed me to find somebody in Utah to perform WLS on me due to a year-and-a-half before I had went in for weight loss surgery locally. I was in the surgery room for an hour and half before they closed me up. The surgeon said due to my anatomy and an old Nissen fundoplication, I wasn’t a candidate for any form of weight loss surgery, even though she was aware of the situation before I had surgery. What a way to throw a chubby, unhealthy girl into deep depression. Doing a Google search the next summer, I found RMAP and met with Dr. McKinlay. My prayers were answered! I found somebody that knew what they were doing. I am forever grateful for him and his staff and all of their knowledge and skills that has changed my life!!!
WLS has not only improved my pre-existing condition disease, which causes me chronic pain, but it’s also improved my confidence in myself. I’m no longer ashamed of the way I look (well I don’t like my wrinkles and sagging skin), and I’m so grateful for the energy and the second chance to live longer. My only regret is I wish I would have found them 30 years ago. Thank you again RMAP and THANK YOU ALL who are in the support group. I am proud to be apart of the BEST group around. All your posts and encouraging words on other posts have helped me more times than I can count! Now gotta get those last 12 pounds gone. Summer is approaching!
Thank you, Shauna
