I have always been a big boy. As long as I can remember I had struggled with my weight, but always had a goal—a dream to be at a healthy weight. As I got older and after many failed attempts to lose weight, my dream seemed to become just that, a dream. My knees were aching, my breathing was labored, my sleep patterns were horrible and my overall health was not doing well. My confidence, self-worth and self-love was almost non-existent, from a young age I would always be made fun of due to my weight.
One night I was looking at myself in the mirror sadden by what I saw, sadden that I have gotten so far off from where I wanted to be at the age of 29. I knew that I needed help to be able to reach my goal and to become the person I knew I was on the inside. To have my inner beauty reflected on the outside. I made the decision to reach out to Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians (RMAP) to start my goal, and now my happiness is apparent to everyone. My co-workers, friends and family have commented on my countenance and its change. They haven’t seen me so happy before, and I can honestly say that I’m happy with my decision to have weight loss surgery.
I have been able to make a life-long change that will ensure that I have a healthy long life. I continue to take the motivation that I got from this journey and allowing it to motivate me, in school, work and my social life.
