My story of weight loss surgery is a unique one. Let’s start with the results. My starting weight was 245 pounds, and I have recently reached the 100-pound mark. I’m so happy and proud to have finally achieved this milestone!
Having weight loss surgery had been on my mind for many years, and I finally took the leap in September 2022 with the Duodenal Switch. Little did I know that I would be part of the 1% who experience complications. What followed was the ride of a lifetime—over a dozen surgeries, multiple rounds of septic shock, and a slim chance of survival. But I MADE IT. Complications like mine are incredibly rare, but the journey was nothing short of extraordinary.
This surgery has changed my life in more ways than one. It has taught me the value of life and shown me just how strong I am. I struggled with my weight my entire life. I was always the “big girl” and in denial about my health, convincing myself I was fine when I wasn’t. It’s amazing how much losing this weight has made even the simplest tasks so much easier.
Dr. Greer became a well-known figure in my family throughout my journey. He did an incredible job managing my complications and keeping me alive. I am also beyond grateful for the staff at Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians who supported me every step of the way.
