Dr. Douglas Greer is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon in Salt Lake City, Utah, specializing in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. As a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), he is committed to delivering advanced, evidence-based surgical care with a focus on long-term patient success and safety.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Greer earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Utah. He completed his general surgery residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Kelvin Higa at UCSF Fresno—one of the nation’s leading centers for metabolic surgery training.

Dr. Greer currently practices at Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians in Salt Lake City, where he performs a range of bariatric and general surgeries including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, SADI-S, anti-reflux procedures, and laparoscopic hernia & gallbladder surgeries. He is affiliated with LDS Hospital and St. Mark’s Hospital.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Greer has contributed to research in pediatric and metabolic surgery. His publications include studies on early enteral feeding following abdominal surgery and the diagnostic utility of lymphopenia in pediatric appendicitis.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Greer is dedicated to accessible, culturally competent care. He emphasizes education and shared decision-making, guiding patients through every step of their weight-loss journey. Outside of medicine, he enjoys Utah’s outdoors and our national parks with his wife and children.
