I had my Gastric Bypass surgery on October 21, 1994. In 19998 I had a two-page article written in Rocky Mountain Associated Physician (RMAP) letter, New “YOU” News. I am now 18 years older, but have maintained my weight and am more active than I was back then! The picture of me in a red sweater is current. Three years ago my wife and I moved to The Villages in Florida. It is the largest and most active retirement community in the world. I immediately became involved in playing competitive softball, pickle ball and golf. My surgery has also allowed me to be very active in travel. My wife and I were full-time RV’ers for six years and we have visited 47 of the 50 United States. We have also visited 105 countries around the world including all the continents.
My wife thought you might enjoy doing an update on someone that has had a success with the surgery, maintained my weight and then become more active than any time in my life—even at age 68.
I thank your doctors and program for giving me a chance at a much more desirable life for the last 22 years.
— Richard M Weese (a.k.a. Mike) previously of St. George, UT
