I chose to have the Duodenal Switch in October of 2021 after a few months of researching and preparation with my Primary Care Physician, as well as Dr. Steven Simper.
My starting weight was 542 pounds at just 26 years old. I had lots of health and confidence issues at this weight and age. Whenever I would go to restaurants, I never wanted to sit in a booth for the fear of not fitting or being uncomfortable, same with movie theaters or sporting events. I never wanted to put myself in a position where I would embarrass myself or whoever I was with. I had high blood pressure, was borderline diabetic, and overall unhappy with myself.
This weight loss surgery tool that I was able to get done has completely changed my outlook on life. It has reversed my high blood pressure and lowered all my blood levels to normal range. I am down 267 pounds in just twelve short months and able to do so much more. I have discovered that I have a love for the outdoors and hiking, fishing, and just being active. This tool has also allowed me to make more concous decisions when ordering or making food. I had a brain switch about three months in to where I was eating for FUEL and not comfort or convenience.
